You may have heard that Apple announced the beta of their Safari web browser for Windows yesterday. If you’ve used Safari on the Mac before, don’t compare this new version to that one. The last version of Safari was released almost two years ago. The new version, Safari 3, which will be available for the Mac and Windows around October, is really fast; twice as fast as Internet Explorer.
In particular, Safari 3 has some major improvements in its JavaScript engine which makes Ajax-heavy applications like Mailroom really screams.
Unfortunately the current beta includes some bugs that break parts of Mailroom so I can’t recommend it to you quite yet. However, those bugs have been fixed for the final version of Safari that will be released later this year. When it does come out, whether you use a Mac or Windows, I highly suggest you give it a try.

Many of our customers use Mailroom to handle email sent from contact forms on their website. Getting data from these forms into Mailroom has always been a hassle though because you had to have someone write a script on your server to take the form data, convert it to an email, and send it to Mailroom.
Well now you don’t.
Starting today, you can send your forms directly to Mailroom. We’ll take care of adding it to your Needs Attention page. We can even tag it for you and assign it to the right person in your company based on the form data.
Tweaking your forms to use this new feature is really easy. It only requires changes to your HTML nothing else. Check out the complete documentation on our support page and get those forms updated!

A lot of you spend a big part of your day using Mailroom. But what about the other people on your company who don’t use Mailroom regularly?
Until today people like this had only one way of receiving notification when new emails were assigned to them. They could subscribe to an RSS feed at the bottom of their Needs Attention page. This worked for some people, but most of us live in our regular inbox, so today we’re announcing…
Email Notifications!
That right, now Mailroom can send an email to your personal inbox whenever you have new messages you need to deal with. Notifications are perfect for those sales people, technicians or anyone else who only use Mailroom occassionaly.
This also makes Mailroom a pretty dang good ticketing system for your whole company using notes.
To turn on email notifications for yourself, its easy. Just log into your account, click on “preferences” in the upper right hand corner then choose something other than “None” from the Notification pop-up that appears on your settings page. Click Save Changes and you’re done:

If you have other people in your company who you think would like to receive email notifications, send them these instructions and they can turn it on for themselves also.
Email notifications are sent to you whenever an event happens that involves you. For example, if someone reassigns an email to you, if you reassign an email to someone else, if a new email reply comes in, or if someone leaves you a note.
We have more features in the oven that just about ready to come out so stay tuned…
