A New Home for the Prague Boys.

Peter, Chris, and I are moving back to California. We launched Sproutit by moving to Prague for a year to save money (and to have a good time in Europe). This trip has been a lot of fun, but now that Mailroom is growing, we need to come home. Peter and Chris are already back in the States, actually. I leave at the end of the week. It will be nice to be back on US time, where most of our customers are.

A New Home for Mailroom

We want all of our apps to be services you can rely on for your business. That means they should be fast, up, and reliable nearly all of the time. We’ve learned a lot about how we can best do this in the 4 months since we launched and now we are putting some of that new knowledge into action.

Sometime in the next few weeks, we will be moving Mailroom from its current home in New Jersey to Michigan. We have also partnered with a great company called OCS Solutions to help us keep an eye on the servers 24 hours a day.

Important New Features!

A few weeks ago, we deployed a new feature that almost no one noticed, but it is one of the most important improvements I think we’ve made yet. Now when you visit Mailroom, it will pre-load the email messages in your inbox behind the scenes. That means when you click on a message, it will appear instantly below; no waiting on our server or your internet connection to keep up.

This may seem like a small change to you, but this new technique is going to give us a lot of freedom in the future to make Mailroom even faster and more intuitive to use.

Just after our move, we also have some other highly requested features that will be available including, tada, attachments! This has by far been our most requested feature since launch, so I’m happy to finally have it on the way.

Business Can be Simple

Of course, we can’t forget one of the biggest events to happen in the next three weeks: the Simple Business Workshop. This one-day intensive workshop is geared towards developers, designers, and other creative professionals who want to learn some simple, pain-free ways to build a business as a freelancer. We will be studying the examples of several well known successful professionals in the process as well. If you are working on your own as a creative professional, be sure to head over to the website and give it a look.

More To Come.

A lot is brewing behind the scenes here, with new servers, new datacenters, new features, new pricing plans, the workshops and more. We will be back to our regular blogging soon, so stay tuned.
